Apologies: Sheila Walker, George Carratt, Rev David Calvin-Thomas, Connie Robertson 2. Opening: Ena welcomed everyone and Joy Allan read psalms and prayer. 3. Minutes of the 9th January meeting were approved, (after a correction in correspondence which should have read “A phone call” by both people stated instead of “A letter”), by Irene Ross and seconded by Richard Gilmour. 4. Correspondence There was none 5. Matters Arising Week of Prayer for Christian Unity The Sunday service to mark the 100th Anniversary of w.o.p in St. Margaret’s was well attended, although some people missed the lunch time services as in previous years. It was agreed to put this on the agenda before next year for discussion. The friendship meal also was well attended and the help setting up and clearing away was good. Feedback from people saying how much they enjoyed the meal, the friendship and the entertainment always makes it worthwhile. Donations received were Ѓ268.00 plus a further Ѓ20.00. After all expenditure it was thought a profit of Ѓ40.00 would be realised. Betty Nicol brought a thank-you card to give to Mr. Mitchell the butcher for all the help he gives us at this time. Letters of thanks will be sent to the music group, lead by Lorna Young and featuring Becka, Natalie and Lizzie, also letters to Margo Imrie, Val Harley, Eric Christie and Ailsa Grant. Glenrothes Futures Group About sixty people attended the meeting; George is still to be asked if he will be the contact person. Future Dates 14th May has still to be arranged. St. Paul’s is not available that evening. Lent Studies The lent groups have begun with plus signs so far on the first day. Bible Society Alan McDonough has been in touch with the people and has applied to have room in St. Columba‘s Car park for the BS bus but has had no reply as yet. He invites everyone possible to come to a presentation and a talk on the wider work of the bible society, teachers from various schools are also being invited, this is on Friday 23rd May in St. Margaret’s at 7-00pm. Posters will be sent out nearer the time. All money required for the project is now to hand. Glenrothes 60th Anniversary Margaret Duffy attended the meeting on the 14th January, and all plans for the years event seem in hand .Mike Delaney from the Gazette suggested that Churches Together could have some sort of inter church service or songs of praise. Margaret brought the idea to our meeting and this was given thought and comment, most people agreed in principal with a date of around early September and with a venue possibly the kingdom centre, but it first of all needs approval and help from all our clergy. With more information coming from the next meeting which Lyn Foy has given to Ena as on the 21st February but no venue at time of going to print, and as Margaret cannot attend this meeting Betty Nicol has agreed to attend. Further discussion hopefully with clergy input for next meeting. Fairtrade Town There is a meeting concerning this on 27th February from Lyn Hoy. No venue as yet. Most of our churches do have, at least, a Fairtrade table and there is good interest with schools as well. Ena agreed to attend this meeting with the Fairtrade table worker for her church. Holy Week Most churches are holding services in Holy Week. An ecumenical service in Christ Kirk Cadham will be on Monday 17th March at 7-00pm An inter church Stations of the Cross will be in St. Mary’s Leslie on Wednesday 19th March at 7-30pm. 6 AOCB 1. Joy Allan brought along some cards and articles from her trip to Sri Lanka. They are produced in Kandi where only 6% of the population are Christian and manage to produce an amazing amount of goods for such a small group, one of their projects is batik work. Joy asks if we could support them by ordering some goods to sell in our churches. 2. Wilma Page asks if we would bring up at next meeting Christian Aid Week. 3. The Gravy Train which Churches Together support has received from the profits from the St. Ninian’s Charity shop and cafщ Ѓ1250.00 towards the project. Grateful thanks were received. 4. Betty Nicol asked people to sign a card for Rev. Peter Berrill, as he will be leaving Christ Kirk soon. 5. World Day of Prayer will be held in St. Margaret’s at 7-30pm 7. Diary A concert featuring St. Mary’s School Edinburgh in Christ Kirk Cadham on Friday 7th March at 7-30pm in aid of Grow. Christian Aid are holding a spring concert in St. Paul’s hall on Friday 28th March at 7-00pm. Meeting Closed with ‘The Grace’.
